Dear SMCT patrons,
We are currently in the process of revitalizing our theatre due to the mass shutdown following COVID-19. We as the board would still love your contribution to help us create a safe and better theatre experience when we are able to open back up again.

One big way to help us is by becoming an SMCT member of the theatre. It is only $30 a year and you get the following benefits:

Half prices tickets (Only available for the member, does not apply to final ticket count)
Access to all member events. (These range from pre-show parties, special holiday events, or monthly gatherings)
Eligibility to vote on the yearly board nominees
You get to join the monthly board meetings and hear some behind the scenes information and even contribute
Join in a committee or even be head of a committee if you would like including membership, events, cleaning, script, etc.

Buy-Out Performances

A Santa Maria Civic Theatre Buy-Out is an exclusive private performance where you or your organization can buy all 100 “SMCT” seats at a substantial discount. Buy-Out performances are offered for special performances on Thursday Evenings, Saturday Matinees, and Sunday Evenings. See our Season Schedule for dates during which each production is available. A number of organizations and individuals regularly purchase Buy-Outs for:

Volunteer with Us!

We build

Volunteers build all of our sets. No experience is required, and it is a great way to make new friends and be part of the theatre. Just pitch in and give us a hand!

We Rehearse, Rehearse…

…and rehearse!. Our cast members may start off a little clumsy backstage, but they keep improving until the show debuts.

We Write

Several of our Fairy Tale Theatre productions are based on original scripts written by SMCT members, including Phyllis Rodenberger, Dennis Headrick, and Don M. Schuettee.

We Disguise

If a character has to look younger, we can do that. Older, we can do that too. How about fatter? Yep. Smaller? We even have a few tricks for that one! We use theatrical make-up and teach the performers how to apply their own make-up. Costumes are made by volunteers.

We Perform

After all, that’s what we do! The show must go on, and it does. We produce several complete shows every season.

Our Recycling Program

You can help us put new faces on our set flats! Just give your plastic bottles and aluminum cans to us. We’ll turn them into cash for this very important project!
