A raucous, pop-rock-musical send-up of gender expectations and stereotypes… that takes it all off. While spying on their wives at a “Girls’ Night Out,” a group of unemployed steelworkers from Buffalo sees how much they enjoy watching male strippers. Jealous, out of work and feeling emasculated, the men come up with a bold and unclothed way to make some quick cash. In preparing, they find themselves extremely exposed; not merely physically but emotionally. As they conquer their fears, self-consciousness and prejudices, the men come to discover that they’re stronger as a group, and the strength that they find in each other gives them the individual courage to “let it go.”
Auditions: be prepared to sing about a one minute, of a, pop, rock, R&B or musical theater song, that showcases their vocal range and in a style that is consistent with the character you are auditioning for. A piano Player will not be available so have a track either on CD or an MP3 to play on a speaker from your phone. You will also be learning a brief dance combination (this is just to see you move). Please dress comfortably for movement.
PARENTS of Children auditioning for the role of “Nathan”: Please watch the original movie and find an opportunity to read the musical’s entire script BEFORE your young performer auditions. Nathan sees and hears adult-themed content and, drops the f-bomb.
